Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC) in Mosman

Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC) is ReFigure Chiropractic Health Centre's signature full-body approach to posture and biomechanics, offered in Mosman on Sydney's Lower North Shore. Rather than adjusting a single joint in isolation, ABC assesses how your whole body organises itself, with care always individualised to you.

What is Advanced Biostructural Correction?

Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC) is a manual chiropractic protocol that looks at the body as one connected structure standing against gravity. Instead of treating your spine as a series of separate segments, ABC considers how your pelvis, spine, ribcage and limbs relate to one another — and which parts of that pattern the body may not be able to self-correct. It's the signature technique our director, Dr Andrew Callister, has built much of his practice around, and it shapes how our team thinks about posture and movement.

ABC is evidence-informed and firmly musculoskeletal in focus. It aims to support more comfortable, upright posture and better-organised movement. As with all care, outcomes vary from person to person, nothing is guaranteed, and whether ABC is appropriate for you is decided only after an individual assessment.

How does ABC differ from a standard single-segment adjustment?

A traditional chiropractic adjustment often targets one restricted or painful segment — the practitioner finds the stiff joint and works directly on it. That approach has real value, and we still use diversified, Thompson drop and low-force techniques where they fit.

ABC starts from a different question: which parts of your posture can your body already correct on its own, and which can't it? The protocol prioritises the areas the body struggles to self-adjust, working through the whole postural chain in a considered order rather than chasing the site of pain alone. For some people that means the area we work on isn't where they feel the strain at all. It's a whole-body lens applied on top of careful, hands-on chiropractic — not a replacement for listening to what your body is telling us.

Who might ABC suit?

People often ask about ABC when they've lived with long-standing postural patterns — the rounded-shoulder desk posture common across the Lower North Shore's office and work-from-home crowd, persistent stiffness, or biomechanical habits that haven't shifted with other approaches. Active locals, from Mosman runners and surfers to weekend golfers, sometimes explore it as part of looking after movement and reducing strain over time.

  • Desk and screen-based workers noticing "tech neck", rounded shoulders or general postural fatigue.
  • People with persistent, non-specific stiffness who want a whole-body assessment.
  • Active people wanting to support posture, movement quality and everyday comfort.
  • Anyone curious about a structural, biomechanics-led way of thinking about their spine.

ABC won't be the right fit for everyone, and it's never assumed. Your practitioner will take a full history, assess your posture and movement, and only then talk through whether ABC — on its own or blended with other techniques — makes sense for you. If something falls outside the scope of chiropractic care, we'll say so and help you find the right person.

What about EndoNasal Cranial Correction (ECC)?

Alongside ABC, Dr Andrew Callister is trained in EndoNasal Cranial Correction (ECC), a gentle cranial technique. It's discussed and offered only where clinically appropriate, and always with your clear, informed consent after we've explained what it involves. ECC is a complementary option some patients ask about — not a routine part of every visit. If it's relevant to your care, your practitioner will walk you through it so you can decide.

What happens at a first ABC visit in Mosman?

Your first appointment is an unhurried conversation and assessment, not a rushed adjustment. We'll talk through your history and goals, look at how you stand and move, and explain what we're seeing in plain language. From there, we'll outline an individualised plan — which may include ABC, other manual techniques, dry needling or soft-tissue work — and you decide how you'd like to proceed. You can read more about our full range on the services page or meet the practitioners on the our team page.

You'll find us at 18A Spit Road, Mosman (please enter via Brady Street), a short trip from Neutral Bay, Cremorne, Cammeray and Spit Junction. No referral is needed, and we're glad to work alongside your GP or other health professionals. If you'd like to know more before booking, our contact page has our opening hours, parking notes and directions.

A note on results: chiropractic care is individualised and outcomes genuinely vary from one person to the next. We use evidence-informed, musculoskeletal-focused care and won't promise a specific outcome — our aim is to assess honestly, explain clearly, and support your comfort and movement.

Frequently asked questions

What is Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC)?

ABC is a full-body, manual chiropractic protocol that assesses posture and biomechanics as a whole system rather than treating one joint in isolation. It aims to support how the spine and body organise themselves against gravity, and care is always individualised to you.

How is ABC different from a standard chiropractic adjustment?

A standard adjustment often focuses on a single restricted segment. ABC steps back to look at the whole postural pattern — how the pelvis, spine and limbs work together — and prioritises the areas the body cannot correct on its own. It sits alongside the other techniques we use, not above them.

Who might ABC suit?

People with persistent postural strain, desk-related stiffness, or long-standing biomechanical patterns often ask about ABC. Whether it's suitable for you is decided after an individual assessment. Outcomes vary from person to person and no result is guaranteed.

What is EndoNasal Cranial Correction (ECC)?

ECC is a gentle cranial technique that Dr Andrew Callister is trained in. It's discussed and offered only where clinically appropriate and always with your informed consent. Your practitioner will explain whether it's relevant to your care.

Do I need a referral to try ABC at ReFigure?
