Chiropractic Care in Mosman

Wondering what chiropractic care actually involves? ReFigure Chiropractic Health Centre is a warm, five-practitioner clinic in Mosman on Sydney's Lower North Shore. This page explains what chiropractic is, who it can help, what your first visit looks like and the techniques we use — so you can decide, with clear information, whether it's the right fit for you.

What is chiropractic care, and what does it involve?

Chiropractic is a regulated allied-health profession focused on the musculoskeletal system — your spine, joints, muscles and the way they move together. In Australia, chiropractors are registered with AHPRA and the Chiropractic Board of Australia, and study for years before they can practise. At its core, chiropractic care is about understanding how your body moves, where it's restricted or strained, and supporting more comfortable, capable movement.

In practice, care is hands-on and individualised. A typical course of care can include a thorough assessment, manual adjustments to specific joints, soft-tissue and mobility work, and practical advice for daily life — desk set-up, movement, and simple things you can do between visits. Our approach is evidence-informed: we draw on current research and professional guidelines, tailor care to the person in front of us, and are upfront that outcomes vary from person to person. Chiropractic isn't a quick fix or a cure-all — it's structured, individualised support for musculoskeletal comfort and function.

Who is chiropractic care for, and what can it help with?

People come to a chiropractor for all sorts of reasons — a specific injury, a nagging ache that won't settle, stiffness that's crept in over years at a desk, or simply wanting to move more comfortably. Care is always assessed and planned around you, and results differ from one person to the next, but we commonly support people with:

We focus on musculoskeletal concerns — everyday aches and complaints that get in the way of a comfortable, active life. If what you're experiencing sits outside that scope, or would be better served elsewhere, we'll tell you honestly and help point you in the right direction.

What to expect at your first visit

Your first appointment is mostly about listening and looking, not rushing into treatment. It usually starts with a conversation about your history — what's brought you in, how it affects your day, your general health and what you'd like to get back to. From there, your chiropractor carries out a physical assessment: checking posture, range of motion, how you move, and the specific areas you're concerned about, alongside relevant orthopaedic and neurological checks where appropriate.

Once they've built a picture of what's going on, your chiropractor explains what they've found in plain language and talks through what care might involve, so nothing happens without your understanding and consent. If hands-on care is appropriate on the day, they'll walk you through each step and work to your comfort. You never leave in the dark — you leave knowing what's happening and why.

Techniques and our approach

Our signature approach is Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC) — a full-body manual protocol that looks at your posture and biomechanics as a whole, rather than treating one spot in isolation. Alongside ABC, our practitioners draw on diversified adjusting, Thompson drop, activator and other low-force options, dry needling and soft-tissue work. If you prefer a gentler approach, low-force techniques are available — your chiropractor talks you through everything and works to your comfort. There's no single "right" technique; the aim is to match care to your body, your preferences and what the assessment shows.

Who will I see?

ReFigure is led by Dr Andrew Callister (Principal), who holds a Psychology degree and a Master of Chiropractic, and who previously worked as a trainer advising Olympic athletes and supporting World-Championship ski and snowboard athletes. He's joined by Dr Mathew Cullen (19+ years in strength, conditioning and rehabilitation, working with ABC, rehab and soft-tissue care) and Dr Natalie Hope (a former NSW volleyball representative, offering ABC, dry needling, IASTM, cupping and TMJ care). Our wellness side includes Laura Gutierrez (Emotional Fitness Coach & Breathwork Facilitator) and John Coady (Counsellor & Psychotherapist). Meet the full team here.

Honest, individualised care

With 15+ years behind the clinic, we take the time to understand your history, your current health and your goals before tailoring care to you — we don't believe in one-size-fits-all. Care is evidence-informed and individualised, and outcomes vary from person to person. If chiropractic isn't the right fit for what you're experiencing, we'll say so and help point you in the right direction. We're open six days including Saturday, and no referral is needed — you can book in directly.

Frequently asked questions

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic is a regulated health profession focused on the musculoskeletal system — the spine, joints, muscles and how they move together. Care is hands-on and individualised, and commonly involves assessment, manual adjustments, soft-tissue work and advice. It's evidence-informed, and outcomes vary from person to person.

What happens at a first chiropractic visit?

Your first visit begins with a conversation about your history, current health and goals, followed by a physical assessment of posture, movement and the areas you're concerned about. Your chiropractor then talks through what they've found and what care might involve, so you can decide what feels right for you.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No referral is needed — you can book in directly. We're happy to work alongside your GP or other health professionals if that suits your care.

What can chiropractic care help with?

We focus on musculoskeletal concerns such as back pain, neck pain, stiffness, posture and headaches linked to the neck, along with everyday sports niggles. Care is evidence-informed and individualised, and outcomes vary from person to person.

Is chiropractic care gentle?

Care is individualised and, for most people, gentle. We offer a range of techniques — including low-force options — and your chiropractor talks you through everything and works to your comfort.
